The SMART project

The overall goal of the project is to develop a transferable approach for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in the water shortage region of the Lower Jordan Valley.

The Smart Project 1

In this context, the following questions play a central role: how to increase water availability and water quality in the catchment area of the Lower Jordan River without endangering vital ecosystems and social and economical welfare; and which innovative technologies, decision-support systems and management strategies can be applied in a reasonable and effective manner for sustainable use of water resources.

The CD and dissemination project work package has the following partial goals:

  • Improving the availability of information, communication and action ability for all project partners, stakeholders and end users
  • Improving human resources development through School Education, University Education, Vocational Education and Institutional Development
  • Supporting and facilitating the implementation of the IWRM tools and technologies developed in the SMART project.
